The Four-Day "Ganges Mahseer Fishing Trip"

TRIP BREIFING: The Himalayan Outback brings to you a short float-trip program that offers great possibilities for some good Mahseer fishing. This trip is based on the Ganges River that flows though the North Indian state of Uttatranchal. This float trip accesses some of the best Mahseer fishing that the Ganges offers and packs in more than any other fishing trip in the Himalayas can offer in this short period of time. A highly recommended trip not only for the anglers but for non-anglers too, as it offers some great opportunities for hikes and short treks, mild white water rafting, kayaking, and other additional activities like rappelling.

  • Experience Himalayan Mahseer fishing in a short span of time.

  • A great fishing adventure for anyone who would like a quick experience of fishing or fly-fishing for this majestic fish.

  • Plenty of activities for the non-angler too.

  • An action packed great value fishing trip.

This expedition offers a unique wilderness experience in a very short span of time, offering one of the well known fishing rivers.

The River Ganges has provided tantalizing sport, which over the years, has been relished by sport fishermen from all over the world. Mentions of this river could be found in most accounts available on the mighty Himalayan Mahseer - its significance, from the Mahseer fishing point of view, elevates it amongst the top fishing rivers of India with excellent fishing potential.

The point where the rivulet Nayar meets the Ganges is one of the more famous fishing beats on this river. This place is called Byas Ghat and is a great attraction for all anglers who want to take on the Mahseer of the Ganges. In 1989, international angling figures John Bailey and Paul Boot shot the hour-long documentary called "Casting for Gold" at Byas Ghat. A number of trophy Himalayan Mahseer have been taken from this beat in the years gone by.

In the past the Ganges River and its tributaries have also been the centre for field research by various ichthyologists.
