The Kuari Pass Trek

TRIP BREIFING : -

  • A great introductory trek into the Indian Himalayas.
  • Some breathtaking views of the Himalayas.
  • All in all a great trek, considering all aspects of what one looks for in a trek in the Himalayas.

The Kuari Pass Trek takes nine days, which includes two days for transit. This trek is also called the Curzon’s Trail, as was made famous by the British viceroy Lord Curzon. The Kuari Pass is at an elevation of 4100 meters.

One is rewarded with some breathtaking views of the Greater Himalayan ranges while on the trek. Snow capped peaks like the Donagigi (7,070mtrs) Kamit (7,756mtrs), Mana (7,270mtrs), Neil Khant (6,600mtrs) and many other 6,000 meters plus peaks of Garhwal and Kumaon Himalayas are in your constant view on some of days on this trek.

This trek crosses over three river systems and valleys, which are tributaries of the grand Alaknanda River of the Gharwal region. Along the trek one comes across plenty of the local Gharwali culture, as you pass remote villages. There are some good opportunities to witness some wildlife along the trek.

The Kuari Pass Trek ends in a place called Tapovan, from where the team is driven to Joshimath where can visit the Shankracharya and Narsima temples.
